Händel's Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 10 in d minor
followed by
Britten's intricate and dance-like Hymn to St. Cecilia
This intimate ending of the 1st half is juxtaposed with:
Händel's glorious Dixit Dominus
for soli, choir, and strings.
Händel's earliest surviving work may at the same time be one of his greatest - full of harmonic passion and melismatic fireworks.
