BIG SKY: American Songs

We hope you’ll join us this Saturday, March 30th, at 7:30pm for our celebration of American song: BIG SKY. The program showcases shape-note music, folk tunes, and spirituals alongside works by contemporary composers such as Eric Whitacre, Pulitzer Prize–winner Caroline Shaw, and New York’s own John Cantrell.

Randall Thompson’s epic choral masterpiece The Peaceable Kingdom has become one of our favorite pieces to perform, and we’re so pleased to share this visual production of our interpretation of it. The immense range of emotions across the movements—from wonder to fear, from pain to gladness—demanded more than an audio recording, prompting us to create this video of the work. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have, and that we’ll see you at our concert of other American songs this Saturday! As usual, a wine reception will follow the performance.
